an irresistible urge to tear or pluck out the hair on one's head and face.

It was triggered when I pulled out a hair on my cheek that was bothering me, and I haven't been able to stop since.

This was originally a sketch I made in class, which I later redesigned, and again on my computer.
This is not the final product. this was just a sketch I made kinda quick. The final product will be an oil painting as soon as I can get my hands on materials that haven't gone bad. The background was something put together quickly, the planed background will be much more pleasing to the eye, and not just a quick cloud filter. I've even thought of incorporating real hairs into the background, but that might just be a little TOO gross.

I mainly submitted it because I haven't submitted ANYTHING lately. I know this one's kinda heavy, and ACTUALLY required me using artistic abilities... BUT DO NOT WORRY! I'll submit another light hearted MS Paint, or photomanip of something funny in no time!

I usually just pick out facial hair... but sometimes I work up to my hair line and have to stop myself. Luckily for me though, it's not THAT bad... some people have a strong urge to EAT the hair after they pick it out. I on;t got that. At least I don't have it yet.

The robot fingers were actually something that happened in a day dream in class. I was zoning out, plucking hairs, and the area where my thumb and middle finger touch had a lot of pressure applied to them, and started to go kinda numb. And I was still doing it, like it was second nature, and I imagined them as robot fingers. Then had a strong urge to draw it out.

Wow.... that was long and pointless... and I'm so weird...

I really need to draw something happy and upbeat to counteract this. Any suggestions?

I have it as well. Severely. It's very, very hard to come out about it, and I do admire you for doing that. Especially for posting this, for the emotion is portrayed with perfection.

I've done it since I was 6 years old. You should try looking on the TLC for the conference, a lot of us go to it and get helpful information and meet other similar people.

I appreciate you for doing this; more people need to learn about TTM. And if people don't understand and don't accept you in real life, we'll always accept you on here.

Note- Actually, 1 out of 100 have had TTM at some point, though most for only a month or so as babies. However, you're not alone! We support you~ *hug*

I have done some extra research on it and found the TLC thing. At the moment it's just my facial hair and hairline. (I'm probably going to start balding, and this doesn't help :P) The only fix I've had so far is keeping my nails really short and shaving often. But the urge doesn't go away unless I bite my nails. Which is another bad habit.

Although it's not completely uncommon, it's rare to see awareness of it. It's nice to know that someone out there understands.
